Tell us about your business

Since December 2007, yum has been creating delicious homemade food using only the finest ingredients sourced from local producers primarily in the New Forest. We have established a strong supplier base to ensure high quality produce is used within our recipes. We actively reduce food miles by sourcing our ingredients locally - over 80% of our ingredients come from within a 30 mile radius (spices come from all around the world!).

What do you produce?

We produce yummy home-baked cakes and treats, as well as an extensive savoury selection including, quiches, savoury muffins and soups. We sell wholesale to tearooms and cafes as well as retail at New Forest producer markets. (link to events page)

We have recently ventured into catering services, specialising in smaller occasions. We also offer children’s cookery parties, for those seeking something different to entertain their little guests.

How has the Marque worked for you?

Since being awarded the Marque in March 2008, the business has had a huge growth spurt. Last year we invested in an advert in a telephone directory costing over £160 and received a very disappointing zero number of leads. During the same period our New Forest Marque membership listing yielded 20 leads, easily paying my membership fee, so I won’t be placing an advert with the directory again this year! The leads keep coming from the New Forest Marque. Consumers are demanding local produce and using local suppliers for a more personal touch.
