What the producers say:-
Bryan Pass: Longdown Activity Farm
‘On starting our new venture a Farm Produce Shop, we needed advice and support. We certainly found both in The New Forest Marque. Without the Marque we would found it very difficult to track down local suppliers, and our customers are satisfied that the products that we sell are really local.’
Sue Cole, Minstead: produces lamb and woollen items from her flock of Gotland sheep
‘Although I am a very small producer I am very committed to the idea of thinking 'local' and the Forest is a great area to both produce and sell locally. The New Forest Marque has given me both an incentive to make more of what I do produce and to look for the Marque on what I buy.
‘We all have to think much more about the sustainability of food production and 'local food' is a very important element. I wear my little Marque badge with great pride and feel part of a very important group!’
Chris Oakes : Oakwood Butchers
'We have seen the Marque develop from a list of producers working in the Forest, to a community of producers who still run their own enterprise, but who support and communicate with each other. In doing so they promote local produce to the wider public that has a growing reputation for its good quality and authentic provenance.
'We at Oakwood Butchers have benefited from being part of the Marque, and hope, in the future, to see the Marque become increasingly popular with not only those living in the Forest, but with visitors who will take its reputation further afield.'
John & Jenny Howat: Howat’s Hives
'The New Forest Marque and events promoted by the Marque have given us the opportunity to link with other producers and retail outlets that are keen to supply a selection of local produce to their customers.'
